I live in Huntsville, Alabama where I was born and raised. I am the son of a NASA aerospace engineer. I have a blended family of five: wife Tracie, young adult step children Timothy and Jasmine, and young boy James. When I was 13 years old, my dad committed suicide. That turned my life around 180 degrees. God took that bad situation and made the most of it. God instilled in me the gift of writing and story telling as a way to cope with my grief recovery. I am an Eagle Scout, an ordained minister, a husband, a father, a fisher, and a lover of boats and water. Over the years I have served in roles of church and chaplain ministry, sales person, and park ranger. The same summer as Daddy's death, I met Mike Williams who became a mentor and my best fishing buddy. He took his own life in 2008. Telling the story of "Miracle Boat" is therapy for grief recovery and restoration over the loss of my good friend. It is giving me a chance to tell his story to help prevent more suicides.

Miracle Boat

I am a graduate of Mississippi State University where I earned a degree in marketing. I also graduated from Beeson School of Divinity (seminary) at Samford University (in Birmingham, AL) where my focus was on pastoral ministry. God inspired me to tell the story of "Miracle Boat" as a way to make the most of two of the most challenging events in my life as a result of my dad and my best friend taking their own lives. I hope that it will help prevent further suicides by individuals seeking to find their unique God-given gifts and purpose, to hang on one more day, lean on loved ones to get through the clouds, and make it to the sunshine day of tomorrow.
